FAQ - About our automatic Deadbolt
A deadbolt is far more secure than a latch bolt. A latch is a passive form of locking a door. A burglar can slip a latch in less than 30 seconds. See how they do it.
Former burglar turned security expert Michael Fraser "Just one lock on a door isn’t enough. Burglars can use their foot to check whether there is a dead lock on the door. If the door moves more than two millimetres, they will immediately know that your door isn’t double locked, giving them easier access to your property.’
An automatic deadbolt automatically locks the door with a solid deadbolt every time the door closes. The lock mechanism has a connected trigger and bolt action: when the trigger makes contact with the strike plate in the door frame, the lock throws the deadbolt to secure the door automatically.
An automatic deadbolt is more secure as a thief cannot slip it as they could latch, and you can’t forget to lock it as you would a manual deadbolt. Therefore, you never make your home an easy target for an opportunist thief.
Yes, the auto-deadbolt nightlatch has a snib button below the bolt that can be moved up to temporarily disable the automatic deadbolt, allowing easy access when you're coming in and out of the house.
Yes! All Finfort locks can be keyed alike — whether on the same door or across different doors — giving you the convenience of a one-key home.
If you prefer a smaller lockguard style, choose the Auto-Deadbolt Nightlatch and select “No Pull” from the dropdown menu. You can also add door pulls if desired.
The internal lock mechanism and door profile are identical in both products — the difference lies in the external door furniture.
The Auto Deadbolt Nightlatch comes with compact lockguards and optional door pulls, while the Automatic Deadbolt features larger faceplates.
If you prefer the smaller plate style, simply select the Auto Deadbolt Nightlatch and choose “No Pull” from the dropdown menu.
What Our Customers Say
A game changer for shared doors
Outstanding quality, security and performance. We install Finfort and can't speak highly enough about them, possibly the best auto-locking deadlocks on the market, on both aesthetics and security. 10/10. — Team London Locks
A locksmith's verdict
Communication with Hilary was professional and easy throughout, and once my Finfort auto deadlock arrived I fitted it within 24 hours. I've been a locksmith for 42 years and an MLA-accredited member, and this was exactly right for a customer who needed a mortice lock that automatically deadlocks, a reinforced, anti-drill, anti-cut, anti-slip bolt morticed into the keep rather than a surface fitting. The BS8621 rating reflects genuinely high safety and reliability, the hardened steel escutcheons reinforce the install against forced entry, and the 3-star ABS key-and-turn cylinder makes it insurance-approved with top-tier cylinder security. A truly excellent piece of kit, and my customer was delighted.
Good enough for our own shop door
We've used the Finfort lock since the very beginning and we love it. There's genuinely nothing like it on the market, a fantastic lock, and we rated it so highly we fitted one on our own shop door.
Innovation, Versatility & Enhanced Security
Patented Mechanism. Effortless Use.
As the door closes, a 21mm deadbolt automatically engages. Finfort’s unique internal design allows multiple locks to be opened one after the other with a single hand — a first in British lock design.
Works with Existing Locks
Shown here on a grey door, this automatic deadbolt is installed at the bottom to work seamlessly with the existing nightlatch — creating automatic two-point locking every time the door closes.
Ideal for Urban Homes
In our Triple Door Lock Set, the automatic deadbolt secures the bottom of the door while the auto-deadbolt nightlatch secures the top — delivering ultimate security with no extra effort.
